There have always been ‘buts’ when it comes to Scottie Scheffler at the start of his PGA Tour seasons: He’s a great young player, but he hasn’t won yet. He’s the world No. 1, but he didn’t win during the summer. Despite these doubts, Scheffler continuously astonished fans with incredible performances and memorable victories.
Entering 2022 without a win raised questions about his ability to finish strong; however, Scheffler quickly showed everyone why he belonged on top by securing a total of four wins in 2023.
His 2024 highlights included capturing his second Masters and six other Tour victories, alongside a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Yet, he focused on enhancing his game, even trying a claw-style grip for putting, leading to a remarkable victory at the Hero World Challenge.
An offseason injury resulted from a cooking mishap, sidelining him during preparation, but his determination shines through. “It’s a bit easier this way. I’m going to try to continue this into the future,” he stated after winning the American Express—his 20th PGA Tour victory.
As the new season commenced, Scheffler demonstrated impressive form by emphasizing the importance of preparation. His commitment to being fully ready for the upcoming grueling Tour schedule may be what sets him apart from the competition.
“Scheffler is the most dominant player in the world, and now he is 100% healthy at the start of the season.”
