Two members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame selection committee have recently revealed their choices, leaving notable names off their ballots. Mike Chappell, a seasoned Indianapolis Colts reporter, was the latest to disclose his non-Bill Belichick vote. He voted for Robert Kraft, the esteemed owner of the New England Patriots, but explained, “I did not vote AGAINST Bill Belichick, the legendary coach of that dynasty. I’m at ease with my decision.”
Chappell highlighted Kraft’s critical role in shaping the Patriots’ success starting in 1994, as well as his contributions away from the field during the 2011 labor resolution. The voter noted that Belichick’s past controversies played a part in his decision.
Belichick, who is now eligible for induction, expressed concerns about not making the Hall in his first year, but with Brady stating, “If Belichick isn’t a first-ballot Hall of Famer, then who is?” it seems the coach’s legacy is expected to get recognized soon.
