Somehow, another NFL season is nearing its end, and soon a new champion will be crowned. Super Bowl 60 is set to take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, home to the San Francisco 49ers. This significant match, referred to as Super Bowl LX, will occur on Sunday, February 8, with its kickoff scheduled for 6:30 PM ET.
Levi’s Stadium, opened in July 2014, has a seating capacity of 68,500 and has hosted several notable events including WrestleMania, concerts, NFL and MLS games, and College Football Playoff games.
In Super Bowl LX, the New England Patriots will represent the AFC, while the Seattle Seahawks will represent the NFC.
This will be the third Super Bowl in the San Francisco Bay Area and the second at Levi’s Stadium. The last Super Bowl held here was Super Bowl 50 in 2016, when the Broncos triumphed over the Carolina Panthers.
In addition, the previous NFL championship game in the area, Super Bowl XIX, took place in 1985 at Stanford Stadium in Stanford, California, where the 49ers defeated the Miami Dolphins 38-16.
California is about to host its 14th Super Bowl, trailing behind Florida’s 17 editions. The first was Super Bowl I in 1967, where the Green Bay Packers secured a 35-10 victory against the Kansas City Chiefs at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The most recent Super Bowl in California occurred at SoFi Stadium between the Rams and Cincinnati Bengals at the close of the 2021 season. Additionally, Super Bowl LXI is expected to return to SoFi Stadium on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2027, marking the latest championship game scheduled to date.
