Pro Bowl Dilemma: Jets' QB Justin Fields Declines Invitation Due to Offseason Training

Justin Fields, the quarterback for the New York Jets, has chosen to decline an invitation to the Pro Bowl to concentrate on his offseason training, while several notable quarterbacks are set to participate.

The Pro Bowl quarterbacks for the AFC this year have raised eyebrows, notably featuring Joe Burrow representing the Cincinnati Bengals. In a surprising twist, rookie Shedeur Sanders and veteran Joe Flacco have also been invited, yet it was Justin Fields from the New York Jets who made headlines by declining the invitation to prioritize his offseason preparation.

This decision comes despite Fields’ less-than-stellar performance in the previous season, where he struggled with a 2-7 record as a starter while completing 62.7% of his passes. In contrast, he had standout moments in earlier years, including rushing for over 1,000 yards in 2022 with the Chicago Bears, surpassing most quarterbacks historically.

Fields isn’t alone in his decision; C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans also opted out of participating to focus on future preparations, leaving the AFC with a pressing need to reconsider their Pro Bowl quarterback roster.

The Pro Bowl Games are set to take place on Tuesday, February 3, at 8 PM ET at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
