Lions Fan Sues Over Alleged Racist Claims in DK Metcalf Incident for $100 Million
Ryan Kennedy, a Lions fan, has filed a $100 million defamation lawsuit claiming false accusations of racism following an altercation with NFL player DK Metcalf.
The Detroit Lions fan, Ryan Kennedy, who reportedly had a clash with Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf in Week 16, has initiated a $100 million lawsuit for alleged damage to his reputation. Kennedy claims he was wrongfully accused of making racist remarks towards Metcalf during their altercation.
The lawsuit lodging was done in Wayne County Circuit Court. It encompasses multiple defendants, including Metcalf, the Steelers, Ford Field Management LLC, Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson, and additional media entities.
Metcalf was suspended for two games due to his involvement in the incident. Kennedy stated that tensions escalated after he addressed Metcalf by his full name. Chad Johnson has alleged that derogatory language was used against Metcalf and his mother during the event.
Kennedy’s legal representatives argue that the defamatory statements have fueled widespread vilification, death threats, and impacted his business negatively. At a press conference, Kennedy called on Metcalf to publicly absolve him of these accusations, a request that Metcalf sidestepped after his suspension ended.
The lawsuit underlines that the defendants have yet to issue a public retraction or correction regarding the allegations against Kennedy, thereby continually damaging his public image.
