Tommy Lloyd Commends Bryce James for Progress During His Redshirt Year
Lloyd believes that despite not playing this season, Bryce James is poised to make an impact at Arizona soon.
Bryce James, who is LeBron James’ younger son, has not yet played for the top-ranked Arizona Wildcats this season but has continued to impress coaches. Tommy Lloyd, the Wildcats’ head coach, confirmed that James is taking a redshirt year.
Bryce has made huge progress. I am confident Bryce will contribute at Arizona soon. — Chancellor Johnson (@ChancellorTV), February 3, 2026
Lloyd emphasized that James has improved significantly over the summer and during his redshirt season, highlighting his physical development and understanding of the system.
James, a shooting guard standing at 6'5" and weighing 195 pounds, chose Arizona over offers from Ohio State and Duquesne. Currently ranked 324th in the high school recruiting class for 2025, he has a promising future ahead.
Lloyd noted that James’ decision to redshirt allows for his skills to mature at the right pace, stating, “He’s really shown a lot of progress, not only learning our system but just physically maturing.”
As the Wildcats remain undefeated at 22-0 this season, they also boast an impressive recruiting class filled with talented players, indicating a bright future at Arizona.
