NBA's Notable Buyout Candidates: Middleton, Conley, and More

As the NBA trade deadline passes, several players emerge as potential buyout candidates, including Khris Middleton, Mike Conley, and Lonzo Ball.

The NBA trade deadline has passed, and while we didn’t see major moves like Giannis Antetokounmpo being traded, several surprising transactions did occur, such as Ivica Zubac moving to the Indiana Pacers. Now, attention turns to the buyout market where players may find new opportunities after being waived.

Khris Middleton

The Dallas Mavericks might buy out Middleton; however, retaining him could also benefit the team. Despite averaging just 10.3 points, Middleton brings value that contenders might seek for the remainder of the season.

Mike Conley

After being traded to the Bulls and then the Hornets, Conley was waived, making him a free agent again. His potential return to the Timberwolves seems likely, given the public support from Anthony Edwards.

“Mike’s my guy, he’s like an OG to me,” Edwards shared after a recent game, expressing hope for Conley’s return.

Chris Paul

Chris Paul has had a tumultuous last few months, re-signing with the Clippers before being traded to the Raptors, where he might also be waived. His future appears uncertain as he nears the end of his career.

Cam Thomas

After being surprisingly waived by the Nets, Thomas remains optimistic, stating, “Super excited ready to actually help and contribute to another team. My next team is getting elite scoring, good playmaking, and a good combo guard.”

Lonzo Ball

Lonzo Ball’s trajectory has been rocky due to injuries. After being traded to the Jazz, he is expected to be waived, but his prior skills still hold appeal for teams.

Each of these players could draw interest as free agents, filling various needs as teams look to bolster their rosters.
