Terrance Gore Passes Away at 34: A Speedster and World Series Champion

Terrance Gore, a former MLB outfielder known for his speed and postseason contributions, has died at the age of 34.

Former major league outfielder and playoff pinch-runner Terrance Gore has passed away at the age of 34, as announced by the Kansas City Royals on Saturday. While Gore spent eight seasons in the MLB, he registered just 85 plate appearances with the Royals, Cubs, Dodgers, and Mets. Nevertheless, his exceptional speed and base-running intelligence made him a valuable asset in three playoff runs.

During his career, Gore had a batting average of .216 with 43 stolen bases from 52 attempts across all three outfield positions. In postseason play, he appeared in 11 games, primarily as a pinch runner, recording 3 runs and 5 stolen bases.

One notable moment in his postseason career was stealing a base in Game 2 of the 2014 World Series, where the Royals eventually lost to the San Francisco Giants. However, he earned a World Series ring the following year with the same Royals team, which had drafted him in the 20th round of the 2011 MLB draft.

Gore also had brief stints on the playoff roster of the Dodgers during their 2020 title run, as well as with the Atlanta Braves in 2021, contributing to another World Series victory.

Originally from Georgia, Gore studied in Panama City, Florida. He is survived by his wife and three young children, residing in Panama City. At the time of his death, Gore was a baseball trainer and was actively coaching his son’s youth team.
