Bayern Munich's Sporting Director Reveals Harry Kane's Contract Talks Have Yet to Commence

Bayern Munich provides an update on Harry Kane's contract status, revealing that negotiations have not started.

Bayern Munich has provided an update on Harry Kane’s contract status. The club’s sporting director, Max Eberl, recently acknowledged that negotiations regarding Kane’s contract have not yet begun. This comes despite earlier statements that discussions were underway.

Exit Clause: Kane Available for £57m in 2026

There is currently no urgency from Bayern to secure an extension for Kane, whose existing contract runs until the summer of 2027. This deal includes exit clauses applicable in every transfer window. Reports suggest that an offer of $78 million could suffice to attract Kane away from Bayern in 2026, a price considered reasonable for one of the sport’s leading forwards.

Update on Contract Discussions

Kane, who became Bayern’s striking figure after leaving Tottenham in 2023—where he holds the record as their all-time top scorer—has scored 123 goals in 129 matches for the Bavarian club, winning two Golden Boots in Germany and a Bundesliga title. While his time in Munich has seen a breakthrough in trophies, speculation grows regarding his long-term future with the club.

Eberl confirmed in January that while conversations about a new contract had been initiated, he clarified, “I said we were in talks, but the negotiations have not started yet. We are in close contact with Harry, and further steps will follow.”

Kane Open to Contract Extension

Kane has expressed willingness to discuss a new contract with Bayern, relishing the stability his family has found in Germany following his transfer from London. Reflecting on his move at the end of 2025, Kane remarked, “The move has been one of the best decisions of my life. To experience a new league, a team like Bayern Munich, these European nights…has been a great step in my career and helped me improve as a player.”

In light of these statements, there seems to be a hopeful outlook for a potential extension in the near future. However, with enticing offers anticipated from the Saudi Pro League and persistent rumors regarding a return to the Premier League, Kane’s decision will ultimately revolve around both family considerations and career objectives.
