In a highly competitive match, a significant brawl broke out as Duncan Powell from Providence committed a hard foul against Bryce Hopkins of St. John’s. This incident escalated quickly, leading to an altercation that involved players from both teams.
The Incident
Six players were ejected after the game, which ended in St. John’s winning 79-69. The altercation began early in the second half and resulted in chaos on the court. Officials and security required nearly a minute to separate the players, leading to a lengthy pause in the game for review and punishment assessment.
St. John’s head coach Rick Pitino, who has a past with Providence, attempted to mitigate the situation by entering the fray.

Aftermath
Powell will be serving a suspension for the next game against DePaul. Pitino refrained from discussing the incident post-game, telling reporters, “You write what you saw. Don’t ask my players.”
