The legendary second baseman who hit the historic walk-off home run in the 1960 World Series has passed away.

The Hall of Fame second baseman and legendary Pittsburgh Pirates star Bill Mazeroski passed away at the age of 89. Known for his iconic walk-off home run against the New York Yankees in Game 7 of the 1960 World Series, Mazeroski brought home Pittsburgh’s first championship since 1925.

Mazeroski made a significant mark on the sport, alongside his well-documented prowess as one of the best defensive second basemen in baseball history, winning eight Gold Glove awards throughout his career.
