Napheesa Collier defeats Aaliyah Edwards in a thrilling final to win a hefty prize in the 1-on-1 tournament.

The highly anticipated 1-on-1 basketball tournament concluded on Friday night with top seed Napheesa Collier overcoming eighth seed Aaliyah Edwards to claim the grand prize of $200,000.

Edwards initially won Game 1 of the best-of-three final series, but Collier made a remarkable comeback, winning Games 2 and 3.

In the semifinals, Edwards dominated Arike Ogunbowale, while Collier dispatched Azura Stevens, both matches ending 11-2.

The finals featured a change in formatting; each of the first four rounds were played to 11, but the final was best-of-three games to nine points. Despite losing the first game 9-6, Collier rebounded to secure wins in the next two games with scores of 9-4 and 9-0 respectively.

This tournament had a substantial overall prize pool of $350,000, with distinct portions allocated for the participants. Collier’s victory also provided her teammates with $10,000 each, while the runner-up received $50,000, and semi-finalists earned $25,000.
