Alex Morgan Discusses Excitement for Upcoming World Cups
Alex Morgan is excited about attending every U.S. match at the upcoming World Cup, although she will not be playing. The two-time World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist retired in 2024.
“I will be watching as many games as possible and going to all of the [U.S.] men’s games this summer, if my schedule allows,” Morgan said. “There is definitely still a lot of soccer and sports in general in my life right now, and I love that.”
Since her retirement, Morgan has engaged in various business ventures, with many initiated during her playing career. Known as one of the world’s most recognized female athletes, Morgan has significantly contributed to women’s rights in sports and equality issues.
She expressed her eagerness to watch the men’s national team play, feeling that this World Cup will be pivotal for soccer’s growth in the U.S.
Morgan emphasized that this event will provide increased visibility for young talents, noting, “It’s going to grow a passion for soccer in this country and create a demand and an urge for kids to want to participate and play.”
In relation to the U.S. women’s national team, Morgan shared her pride in the growth of women’s soccer and the increasing opportunities for young female athletes, highlighting the support systems now in place for players balancing motherhood and their careers.
