Lamine Yamal Plans to Gift His Match Ball to His Mother Following Hat-Trick
Lamine Yamal has declared that he will give the match ball from his inaugural hat-trick to his mother after he shone during Barcelona’s 4-1 triumph over Villarreal.
This impressive display showcased his prowess as he scored three goals before Robert Lewandowski netted the final goal to secure a comfortable win for Barcelona, keeping them four points ahead of Real Madrid.
Yamal’s Stellar Performance
Barcelona showcased their dominance against Villarreal at Camp Nou, with Yamal playing a crucial role. The young talent dazzled the audience, scoring three exquisite goals with his left foot, enhancing his reputation as a notable forward.
The match unfolded with a slight hesitation from the home side, but it was Fermin Lopez who seized the ball from Pape Gueye, passing it to Yamal, who deftly scored to open the account for Barcelona within half an hour.
His second goal was remarkable, as he demonstrated impressive dribbling skills after chasing down a loose pass from Lopez, showcasing his flair before finding the back of the net with a stunning strike.
In the second half, Villarreal managed to pull one back from a corner, but Yamal quickly cemented Barcelona’s victory. After being set through by Pedri, Yamal displayed his finesse with a curled finish that left the goalkeeper with no chance. He was then substituted for Roony Bardghji, accompanied by thunderous applause from the crowd.
Match Ball for Mom
After achieving his first hat-trick, Yamal obtained the match ball and shared an emotional moment with family members. He stated, “My mum will get the hat-trick ball, definitely!”
Yamal Reflects on His Journey
In a post-match interview, he talked about his journey back to form after facing challenges. He told Movistar+, through BeIN Sports:
“It was a mix of everything. I wasn’t feeling well myself, plus the pubalgia. I wasn’t happy playing, and you could see it. For about a week now, I feel much better. I feel like smiling while playing again, something I hadn’t felt in a long time. Now I’m happy playing.
“People expect me to score 100 goals per season since I was 16, but that’s difficult.”
Champions League Aspirations
Barcelona has been fortunate in the Champions League draw, steering clear of formidable teams like Real Madrid and PSG. They will face Newcastle United, having already triumphed over them earlier this season.
If successful in that matchup, they may confront either Atletico Madrid or Tottenham in the quarter-finals, and potentially face Arsenal in the semi-finals. Yamal’s exceptional performances, like against Villarreal, will be vital in helping Barcelona reclaim their status as champions of Europe.
