Bayern Munich’s left-back Alphonso Davies strained his right hamstring during a Champions League victory against Atalanta, as reported by the Bundesliga club on Wednesday.
While the exact timeline for his recovery is unclear, a similar injury occurred back on February 21, which had sidelined Davies for approximately two weeks.
Canada is set to co-host the World Cup alongside the United States and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
The 25-year-old had only just returned in December from a torn ACL he suffered last year while representing his nation.
Bayern also provided information about injuries sustained by goalkeeper Jonas Urbig and forward Jamal Musiala, both of whom were injured in the team’s 6-1 victory over Atalanta on Tuesday.
The club stated that all three players ‘are set for a spell on the sidelines.’
Musiala is dealing with a left ankle injury, while Urbig has been diagnosed with a concussion, filling in for the injured first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
