The Seattle Seahawks are coming off back-to-back seasons where they missed the NFL playoffs. After making it to the postseason unexpectedly in the first year of the post-Russell Wilson era with a 9-8 record, they maintained and improved their performance to 10-7 in the following season but were still on the outside looking in.
To return to playoff contention, GM John Schneider acknowledges the need for roster improvements. Schneider stated, “We know exactly what our deficiencies are; we can all see it, right? And we have a plan to address everything.”
A significant concern is the offensive line, which has been a recurring issue. With Geno Smith facing heavy pressure and the running back duo of Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet struggling to make plays, changes are essential. Schneider mentions the need for better investment in offensive linemen, especially given the average performance of tackles Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas.
Defensively, the team could also benefit from enhancing their front seven. Despite solid performances from players like Leonard Williams, who had a standout 2024 season, they have struggled with stopping the run. Adding a top-edge talent could ease their challenges on defense.
Whatever the case, Schneider’s acknowledgment of these weaknesses indicates a proactive approach as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
