Notre Dame Takes Over as No. 1 in Women's College Basketball Rankings

Notre Dame rises to the top of women's college basketball rankings, ending UCLA's 12-week streak at number one.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are now ranked No. 1 in the AP Top 25 poll for the first time since 2019. They took over the top position after UCLA lost to USC.

Texas had an opportunity to secure the top spot too, following their victory against LSU. Despite their strong record, they settled at No. 2 with eight first-place votes. Meanwhile, UCLA remains competitive, falling to No. 3, with six first-place votes.

The Bruins nearly faced another loss against Michigan State, but a late 3-pointer secured them a narrow win.

USC, following a strong performance from JuJu Watkins, moved up to No. 4. UConn is currently positioned at No. 5 after a significant win over South Carolina, marking an end to the Gamecocks’ 71-game home winning streak.
