Luka Doncic Set to Play Without Minutes Limitation as Lakers Return from All-Star Break
Luka Doncic is expected to play full minutes as the Lakers come back from the All-Star break, following his recovery from injury.
Luka Doncic is returning to action with the Los Angeles Lakers, likely without any minutes restrictions. Coach JJ Redick announced that Doncic, who had a cautious start to his Lakers career, should play a full role as the team hosts the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday evening.
Following a six-and-a-half week absence due to a strained left calf sustained on Christmas while he was with the Dallas Mavericks, Doncic has played in the Lakers’ last two games before the All-Star break, though he was limited to just 47 minutes in total.
Redick expressed confidence in Doncic’s readiness, stating: “He’ll be fine. That extra five, six days of All-Star break was good for him. His minutes will be up [Wednesday], and I don’t think that there’s going to be any sort of restrictions going forward.”
The Lakers acquired Doncic on February 2 in a notable trade that saw Anthony Davis head to the Mavericks.
Moreover, LeBron James is listed as questionable for the game against Charlotte, having missed his last outing and the All-Star exhibition due to a sore left foot and ankle.
Due to rescheduled fixtures following the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, the Lakers and Hornets will resume their season earlier than other teams.
