Manchester United has reported a staggering $18.3 million price tag linked to the dismissal of manager Erik ten Hag and other football staff members, as disclosed in their latest financial statements. This cost adds to the financial strain on the club following a disappointing season.
A month after Dan Ashworth entered the role of Sporting Director on December 8, he also parted ways with the club amid ongoing struggles on the pitch. The expense related to the exits includes £10.4 million for Ten Hag and his staff alone, and the latest figures show that the total incurred for these exceptional costs now stands at £14.5 million.
Ongoing struggles have persisted for the team since Ten Hag’s exit, while the club currently holds a position of 15th in the Premier League standings, barely averaging a point per game under the new head coach, Ruben Amorim.
Despite these challenges, the chief executive Omar Berrada expressed optimism, stating, “We recognise the challenges in improving our men’s team’s league position and we are all working hard, collectively, to achieve that.”
Manchester United projects a revenue of £650 million to £670 million for the year while implementing measures to reduce expenditures. The recent financial report discloses a 9.2 percent increase in matchday revenues, generating around £52 million.
