Bobby Portis Faces 25-Game Suspension Over Drug Policy Breach

Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis has been suspended for 25 games for a violation of the NBA's anti-drug policy, as he tested positive for Tramadol.

The NBA has suspended Bobby Portis Jr. of the Milwaukee Bucks for 25 games due to a positive test for the painkiller Tramadol, violating the league’s anti-drug policy.

Portis will not be eligible to return until April 8, during the Bucks’ 79th game this season. His suspension will begin with the matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers.

“I was dealing with an elbow injury and using an NBA-approved medication for pain and inflammation,” Portis stated. “During that time, I made an honest mistake and took a pain-reducing anti-inflammatory pill that is not approved. I feel horrible and recognize that I’m responsible for what I put in my body.”

During that time, I made an honest mistake by taking a pain-reducing anti-inflammatory pill that is not approved. I feel terrible and acknowledge my responsibility for what I consume.”

Portis’ agent, Mark Bartelstein, stated the drug was taken “unintentionally” as Portis believed he was consuming an approved medication.

General Manager Jon Horst expressed the organization’s support for Portis, emphasizing their commitment to teamwork and strengthening their performance moving forward.

The Bucks currently sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 21-10 record when Portis scores at least 10 points.
