Two-time NBA All-Star Ja Morant has refrained from discussing a report that identifies him as the player from the Memphis Grizzlies whose home was victim to a burglary orchestrated by seven men from Chile. These individuals face federal charges for break-ins at the residences of various professional athletes across the country.
According to The Daily Memphian, a senior law enforcement official confirmed that Morant was labeled as “Professional Athlete 6” in an FBI complaint dated January 30 in Tampa, Florida. When asked for a comment, the Grizzlies’ representative declined to provide details regarding the alleged incident involving Morant.
During a pregame gathering in Indianapolis, officials confirmed that Morant chose not to address the recent allegations. The Grizzlies were set to compete against the Indiana Pacers.
The FBI report does not reveal the identities of the athletes involved but lists previous burglaries concerning stars like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, along with Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, among others.
The complaint detailed that the break-in occurred after 4 p.m. on December 19, 2024, after which the Grizzlies triumphed over the Golden State Warriors with a score of 144-93. The assailants reportedly made off with jewelry, luxury bags, and watches, valued at approximately $1 million.
A spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office indicated that authorities responded to the burglary report on December 20 at an unincorporated area of the county, yet the player’s identity and home address remain undisclosed during the ongoing investigation.
Several suspects were apprehended in January following a traffic stop in Ohio, where they were charged with breaking into Burrow’s residence. Four of these individuals were reportedly in the country illegally, as per the court records. The group is thought to have taken pictures with the stolen property and typically operated in smaller units to carry out multiple burglaries.
