Michigan's Dusty May Signs Contract Extension Ahead of Indiana Coaching Search
Dusty May has secured a multi-year contract extension with Michigan, amidst speculation regarding Indiana's head coach position.
Dusty May has finalized a multi-year contract extension with the Michigan Wolverines basketball team, as announced by Athletic Director Warde Manuel on Friday. This decision comes during an impressive inaugural season for May, who is currently leading the No. 12 Wolverines, while Indiana is on the lookout for a new head coach after Mike Woodson declared he would step down after the 2024-25 season.
May remarked, “I’m staying at Michigan,” emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus as the team eyes a high seed for the NCAA Tournament. With contract details revealing that his contract will extend through spring 2030 with an increase of $1 million annually in salary and additional program investments, it’s clear that both parties are committed to the shared vision at Michigan.
He also noted, “We didn’t want it to be a distraction internally or externally,” referring to the ongoing coaching speculation at Indiana. Meanwhile, Manuel expressed his excitement for May’s ongoing contributions, stating, “His commitment to this University and the success of the men’s basketball program has far exceeded our expectations.”
