Manchester United Plans Job Cuts Amid Cost-Cutting Measures

Facing financial challenges, Manchester United is set to reduce its workforce by up to 200 positions while restructuring their operations.

Manchester United is initiating another round of job cuts, with up to 200 positions set to be eliminated as part of a broader strategy to reduce costs and streamline operations at the club. This follows a previous round of redundancies that saw 250 employees laid off last summer.

The club’s decision to reduce its workforce is coupled with cutbacks in employee facilities, including a reduction in food options at Carrington, the training ground. Reports reveal that meals will be limited to soup and bread, and the employee canteen at Old Trafford is set to close.

These cuts come shortly after Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who acquired a minority stake in Manchester United, has taken significant steps to cut costs throughout the organization, including the termination of free lunches for employees.

Financial disclosures indicate that United’s revenue has decreased from $296.1 million to $260.6 million year-on-year, reflecting challenges in their performance, notably their failure to qualify for the Champions League last season.
