The NBA announced the postponement of the highly anticipated game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Charlotte Hornets due to ongoing wildfires in California.
The NBA has announced that the Thursday night game featuring the Los Angeles Lakers against the Charlotte Hornets at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles is postponed because of the ongoing wildfires in the region.
In a statement, the Lakers expressed, “heartbroken” about the recent wildfires’ impact. A rescheduled date for the game is yet to be determined.
Lakers coach JJ Redick reported that he and his family were forced to evacuate due to the fires. He stated:
“Our family, my wife’s family, my wife’s twin sister, they’ve evacuated. I know a lot of people are worrying right now, including my family. With the winds tonight, I know many are scared. I just want to acknowledge that. Thoughts and prayers for everyone, and I hope everyone stays safe.”
The Lakers are set to face the San Antonio Spurs in their next game at home.
