Florida State Stuns Notre Dame, Impacting ACC Title Aspirations

In a thrilling encounter, No. 3 Notre Dame witnessed a disappointing loss to No. 24 Florida State, undermining their chances for an ACC regular season title.

No. 3 Notre Dame suffered a second consecutive loss on Thursday as it fell at home to No. 24 Florida State, 86-81. This marks the first time the Fighting Irish have faced back-to-back ACC defeats since 2021.

The Irish initially took a strong position, leading by nine at the end of the first quarter and extending it to a 15-point lead early in the second. However, Florida State mounted a comeback, fueled by a 19-3 run, ultimately gaining the upper hand for the majority of the game.

Despite a late surge by Notre Dame closing the gap, Ta’Niya Latson of Florida State showcased clutch performance down the stretch, finishing the game with 23 points, five rebounds, and nine assists. In a critical twist, this victory by Florida State also places significant strain on Notre Dame’s hopes for an ACC title and a favorable NCAA Tournament seeding.
