Kawhi Leonard Set to Return as Clippers Face Hawks this Sunday

LA Clippers star Kawhi Leonard is poised to make his season debut against the Atlanta Hawks after recovering from a knee injury.

Kawhi Leonard is set to return to the basketball court after an injury hiatus. The LA Clippers have lifted his status from out to questionable as they prepare to host the Atlanta Hawks this Saturday.

Leonard has been recovering from a right knee injury, missing significant playtime. His last game was on April 26 during the playoffs against Dallas. He missed 12 out of the Clippers’ last 14 games due to knee issues, even though he was selected for the USA Olympic team this summer. Despite his expectations to participate, he was sent home over concerns about his knee’s readiness for the competition.

Leonard, now a two-time NBA champion and six-time All-Star, has faced ongoing injury setbacks throughout his career, missing nearly 300 regular-season games in the past eight years. He participated in 68 games in the last season—his highest count since the 2016-17 season.

“This is just my journey. I can’t lay out the perfect script for me. I motivate a lot of people, so I’ve got to keep doing what I’m doing,” Leonard remarked during the summer discussions regarding his injuries.

Leonard has maintained a career average of 20 points per game.
