Paul George Puts Podcast on Hold to Focus on 76ers' Season

In a challenging season, Paul George pauses his podcast to concentrate on getting the Philadelphia 76ers back on track.

In the midst of one of the most challenging seasons of his career, Paul George is focusing all his attention on basketball in an effort to get the Philadelphia 76ers back on track. George, who began his podcasting journey in 2023 during his time with the Los Angeles Clippers, has decided to pause his “Podcast P” for the rest of the 2025 NBA season.

“I want to let the ‘Podcast P’ family know that after today’s episode I plan to take a break from the pod, just to focus on getting my body right, get mentally right, and, you know, help this squad make a push towards our goal to finish this season out and give ourselves a chance to be in contention to compete for a championship,” he announced on his show.

Currently, the 76ers are struggling in 12th place in the Eastern Conference, well behind the Chicago Bulls for the final spot in the NBA’s Play-In Tournament with just 24 games left.

“Paul George’s podcast isn’t the reason that [the 76ers] are where they are!” said Ric Bucher, an analyst for FOX Sports. “It’s got nothing to do with what’s happening on the court,” agreed Paul Pierce.

The 76ers’ problems stem not only from George’s struggles but also the durability issues faced by center Joel Embiid, who has only played 19 games this season while dealing with knee problems. Despite being on the court, Embiid seems to be performing below his usual standards, averaging only 23.8 points and 8.2 rebounds.

George, who is 34, signed a lucrative four-year contract worth $211.6 million with the 76ers in the offseason, but has struggled to meet expectations, averaging 16.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists over 39 games, during which he has missed 19 games due to injuries.

“Just to mentally lock in,” advised Keyshawn Johnson during a segment on “Speak,” reflecting on what he would do in George’s position.

While George’s podcast may be on a break, the road to achieving his championship dreams with the 76ers is still long and filled with challenges ahead.
