Kuminga's Injury Status: Warriors Forward on the Verge of Return
Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga is close to returning after his ankle sprain and is aiming to emulate Jimmy Butler's gameplay.
Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, who has been sidelined since spraining his ankle on January 4, is gearing up for a comeback. Although he won’t play against the Orlando Magic on Thursday, sources indicate he might return later in the Warriors’ road trip.
During this trip, the Warriors will challenge the Philadelphia 76ers, the Charlotte Hornets, the New York Knicks, and the Brooklyn Nets.
When Kuminga got injured, he was on a remarkable scoring streak, posting back-to-back games with 34 points. This injury has raised questions about how it will affect the team’s approach moving forward. “The main thing I want for JK is to not press when he comes back. It’s not an easy spot to come back into, where the team’s rolling and he has contract considerations to think about,” said coach Steve Kerr.
Kerr believes that Kuminga should learn from Jimmy Butler, who exemplifies disciplined gameplay, emphasizing fundamental basketball techniques. Kerr stated, “What makes Jimmy special is that he doesn’t try to be special; he just plays fundamental basketball.”
Kuminga’s return could add much-needed depth and explosive talent to a Golden State team on the rise as they prepare for the season’s stretch run.
