Trojans Take Big Ten Title in a Dominant Win Against Bruins
USC outclasses UCLA to secure the Big Ten regular season championship, with standout performances from JuJu Watkins and Kiki Iriafen.
USC dominated UCLA 80-67 on Saturday night, securing the Big Ten regular season trophy in their first season in the conference. With JuJu Watkins scoring 30 points and Kiki Iriafen adding 17, the Trojans showcased their offensive prowess alongside a robust defense. This victory sealed a season sweep over crosstown rivals UCLA.
“It means so much just knowing the history of it all,” Watkins said in her postgame interview. “This is a really historic building … When we come here, we make sure we seize the opportunity.”
The Bruins struggled against USC’s defense, shooting only 36% from the field and committing 16 turnovers. UCLA’s head coach, Cori Close, expressed her disappointment postgame:
“Just really pissed off we didn’t show up and do our jobs. Credit to USC – they were tougher,” Close stated.
The match highlighted the exceptional talent of both teams, with standout performances from USC’s Watkins and Iriafen driving the team to its first regular season title since 1994.
