LSU's Star Flau'Jae Johnson Sidelined with Shin Inflammation during SEC Tournament
The LSU Tigers are set to miss their leading scorer Flau'Jae Johnson, who is dealing with shin inflammation, just as the SEC Tournament approaches.
No. 7 LSU’s leading scorer, Flau’Jae Johnson, will miss the SEC Tournament due to shin inflammation, coach Kim Mulkey revealed during the pregame radio show prior to the Tigers’ 85-77 loss to Ole Miss on Sunday. Johnson is expected to recover in time for the NCAA Tournament.
Mulkey stated after the game, “When your shins are hurting you – it’s like your feet and your back, when they are hurting you cannot mentally perform. I decided… so why not do it now?”
The junior guard has been crucial for the Tigers, averaging 18.9 points per game, but she missed her first game of the season due to this injury.
For LSU, Aneesah Morrow led the team with 28 points and 12 rebounds in Johnson’s absence. LSU’s overall record now stands at 27-4, with the SEC Tournament beginning on Wednesday in Greenville, S.C.
