Florida State and Clemson Set to Pay Off ACC Lawsuits with New Revenue Plan
A new revenue distribution model may help resolve ongoing legal disputes for Florida State and Clemson in the ACC.
Florida State and Clemson are scheduled to vote on a proposed settlement regarding their four lawsuits against the ACC, coupled with a new revenue distribution plan. Per ESPN, the settlements are viewed as a crucial step towards ensuring stability for the conference moving ahead.
The terms need approval from both the ACC Board of Directors and the respective boards of trustees of both universities.
The anticipated deal includes distributing 40% of the television revenue evenly among the 14 long-standing ACC members, while 60% will be allocated using a ratings-based formula from the past five years.
This shift comes after a legal battle initiated by Florida State in December 2023, with Clemson joining in March 2024, protesting the conference’s high exit fees and media rights control.
