Kyrie Irving Faces Season-Ending Injury After ACL Tear

Dallas Mavericks' Kyrie Irving is set to miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL sustained during a game against the Sacramento Kings.

Kyrie Irving’s season is over. The star point guard of the Dallas Mavericks tore his ACL during a game against the Sacramento Kings in which Dallas lost 122-98. The injury happened while Irving was making a Euro step, after which he landed awkwardly on his left leg.

Onlookers witnessed injured forward Anthony Davis helping Irving to the locker room, where he was visibly emotional after attempting to shoot free throws despite the injury. Irving, who recorded seven points in the nine minutes he played prior to the incident, has been crucial to the Mavericks’ campaign this season. With Luka Doncic traded away, his role had become even more vital.

The Mavericks are currently sitting in 10th place in the Western Conference, dangerously close to falling out of playoff contention with such a significant injury impacting their roster.

“I will be working hard on my recovery to come back even stronger next season.” - Kyrie Irving “Estoy trabajando duro en mi recuperación para regresar aún más fuerte la próxima temporada.”
