Sam Hubbard Retires at 29 After Seven Seasons with the Bengals

Sam Hubbard, a Cincinnati native, has announced his retirement at the age of 29 after an impressive seven-season career with the Bengals. In a heartfelt message shared via social media, he expressed gratitude for the support from teammates, coaches, and fans, stating, “I bled orange and black before I ever put on a Bengals jersey. … I gave this game, this team, and this city everything I had.”

Hubbard, who played his college football at Ohio State, was a third-round draft pick for the Bengals in 2018. Over the course of his career, he played 104 regular-season games, achieving notable statistics including 38.5 sacks and 88 consecutive starts. He is particularly remembered for his standout playoff performance during the Bengals’ 2022 season when he scored a 98-yard touchdown off a fumble recovery, marking a historic moment in franchise history.
