Following their agreement with the Los Angeles Rams to acquire Jonah Jackson, the Bears are now sending a fourth-round pick in 2026 to the Kansas City Chiefs for guard Joe Thuney.
Thuney, a four-time All-Pro, is only 32 years old and holds four Super Bowl rings. With an alarming 68 sacks taken during his rookie season, quarterback Caleb Williams desperately needed a safeguard like Thuney. This move enhances the Bears’ offensive capabilities, positioning them competitively in future endeavors.
On the flip side, the Chiefs are now a weaker squad without Thuney, who was instrumental in their recent successes. Despite the loss, they managed to eliminate a hefty contract in exchange for a future fourth-round selection, allowing them more flexibility in free agency. Nonetheless, the question remains if that trade-off was indeed worth it for Kansas City.
