FIFA has opened the bidding process for the upcoming Women’s World Cups. Although U.S. Soccer has expressed enthusiasm, Mexico’s involvement remains unclear. While a joint bid was previously discussed for 2027, focus has now shifted towards planning for 2031.
On March 5, 2025, U.S. Soccer announced their intent to bid for the 2031 tournament, but Mexico’s silence is notable. A statement from U.S. Soccer highlighted their commitment to promoting women’s soccer:
“U.S. Soccer, in partnership with Concacaf and its members, will complete the bid process to host the 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup. We are excited by the opportunity to welcome teams and fans, inspire the next generation, and grow the game regionally and globally.”
Sources indicate that while a joint bid is still a possibility, it is not a priority at this time due to the focus on the 2026 Men’s World Cup.
The 2031 Women’s World Cup host will be announced during the 76th FIFA Congress in 2026. Previous Women’s World Cups hosted in the U.S. set benchmarks for attendance and success, with legendary events such as 1999 creating lasting impacts on women’s soccer. Parlow has voiced her belief that hosting the tournament can significantly inspire young female athletes.
