Lionel Messi's income exceeds the combined payroll of 22 Major League Soccer teams in the ongoing season, showcasing his exceptional financial standing in the league.

Lionel Messi of Inter Miami has outdone the payrolls of 22 other Major League Soccer teams, with his earnings totaling $20,446,667 for the year. In comparison, Olivier Giroud’s earnings at Los Angeles FC amount to $3,675,000.

The MLS Players Association announced a salary update indicating that Messi maintains a base salary of $12 million, with other forms of compensation included. This financial arrangement is part of Messi’s contract that remains effective until the end of the 2025 season.

Inter Miami boasts a remarkable payroll of $41.7 million, significantly higher than other teams such as Toronto ($31.8 million) and Los Angeles FC ($22.1 million). Players from teams like Cincinnati and Houston also surpass Messi’s compensation.

Notable players such as Sergio Busquets, who makes $8,499,996, and Lorenzo Insigne, with a total of $15.4 million, are highlighted in the latest salary report.

Additionally, MLS saw multiple players join during the summer transfer window, including Ezequiel Ponce at Houston and several others, all contributing to the evolving landscape of player salaries in the league.
