The La Liga match scheduled on Saturday has been postponed due to the death of team physician Carles Minarro Garcia.

The FC Barcelona vs. Osasuna match, scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, was postponed following the announcement of the passing of first-team physician Carles Minarro Garcia. Reports indicate that Dr. Minarro passed away at the hotel where the team was staying before the match. The club made the following statement:

“FC Barcelona is deeply saddened to announce the passing of first-team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia this evening. For this reason, the match between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna has been postponed to a later date.”

Players expressed their condolences on social media, with Pedri writing on Instagram:

“I still don’t believe it. A strong hug for the family and friends of Carles.”

The RFEF shared their sympathy, stating:

“The RFEF regrets the death of the doctor of the first team of FC Barcelona, Dr. Carles Miñarro, and informs that for this reason the FC Barcelona-Osasuna match scheduled for today has been postponed, pending the decision of the competition judge. The RFEF would like to express its most sincere condolences to the family, friends, the club and fans and joins in their grief.”

Barcelona will need to find a new time in their busy schedule to reschedule the match. Currently, the team leads in their Champions League matchup and prepares for the Copa del Rey semifinals on April 2 after a thrilling 4-4 draw with Atletico Madrid.
