Mauricio Ruffy may have secured Knockout of the Year just two minutes into the UFC 313 main card. Ruffy executed a stunning highlight-reel spinning kick to the head of King Green, sending him down and out to commence Saturday’s pay-per-view from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Ruffy displayed superior striking right from the start, although Green, a seasoned veteran, was poised to retaliate at any moment. Sadly for Green, he never got his chance as Ruffy pressured with strikes before feinting a left hook, leaping into the spinning hook kick that landed flush on Green’s head causing him to crash to the canvas, concluding the fight just 2:07 into the first round.
Ruffy, hailing from the rising Fighting Nerds camp in Brazil, earned his UFC contract through Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023. In his UFC debut, he showcased his prowess by knocking out Jamie Mullarkey with a flying knee followed by a barrage of punches. Following his victory over Green, he now boasts a three-fight winning streak in the Octagon.

Green’s Background: Green made his UFC debut in February 2013 and has been a consistent figure in the division ever since. He was coming off a submission loss to Paddy Pimblett in July and now faces a 1-3 record in his latest outings.
