LeBron James Minimally Concerned About Groin Injury That Might Cause Weeks Absence
LeBron James is dealing with a strained groin but remains optimistic about a quick recovery.
LeBron James, the star of the Los Angeles Lakers, exited to the locker room with a strained left groin during the Lakers’ 111-101 loss to the Boston Celtics on Saturday. This injury could keep the 40-year-old player sidelined for several weeks, according to ESPN.
James, however, expressed minimal concern about the injury, stating, “Not much concern. Obviously, I’m day-to-day. I’ll look at it each day and see if it gets better, and take the proper measures to see what I need to do moving forward.”
He left the game with 6:44 remaining after attempting to contest a layup by Jaylen Brown. Before leaving, he managed to score 22 points, grab 14 rebounds, and provide 9 assists in the match.
This isn’t the first time James has faced a groin issue; notably, he previously missed 17 games due to a torn left groin on Christmas Day in 2018. Nevertheless, he indicated that this injury might not be as severe.
Averaging 25 points, 8.5 assists, and 8.2 rebounds per game in his 22nd season, James recently became the first player in NBA history to score over 50,000 career points, including postseason.
Following James’s departure, the Lakers closed the gap from a 20-point deficit to under ten points, but Jayson Tatum and Brown secured the game for Boston with their final 12 points.
James will likely miss the upcoming game against Brooklyn as the Lakers face a challenging schedule ahead.
