The Kansas City Chiefs have successfully re-signed inside linebacker Nick Bolton, a crucial member of their 2024 fourth-ranked scoring defense which allowed an average of 19.2 points per game. Bolton’s new contract spans three years and is valued at $45 million, with $30 million guaranteed, according to reports from NFL Media. His average annual salary of $15 million positions him among the highest-paid linebackers, trailing only Roquan Smith, Fred Warner, and Tremaine Edmunds at their respective salary averages.
Bolton has led the Chiefs in tackles for three of his four NFL seasons, most recently with 106 tackles in 2024. The second-round draft choice from Missouri has played on two of the Chiefs’ three Super Bowl teams during the Patrick Mahomes era.
The re-signing of Bolton aligns perfectly with the Chiefs’ strategy, as he is set to celebrate his 25th birthday the day after signing, securing his place through his age 27 season. This mutually beneficial agreement allows Bolton to target another contract at the age of 28, ideally positioning him for a deal that covers the remainder of his prime athletic years.
