One of the notable signings during the NFL free agency season appears to be taking shape. The Carolina Panthers are finalizing a deal with former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams, as reported by ESPN. The specific terms of Williams’ contract have not yet been disclosed.
Williams, who ranked as CBS Sports senior writer Pete Prisco’s No. 6 free agent, was anticipated to be one of the top defensive tackles available this offseason. His performance has improved significantly, especially during Super Bowl LIX, where he achieved two sacks on quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
He originally entered the NFL as a third-round selection by the Eagles out of Louisiana Tech in 2021 and has spent his entire career with Philadelphia until this point.
Williams joins a Panthers defense that was struggling last season, ranking last in pressure rate (16.2%). With his arrival, he is expected to bolster the defensive capabilities alongside Derrick Brown.
