Navy Player Ejected for Low Blow in Patriot League Championship Match
Navy guard Jordan Pennick faced ejection after an incident during the championship game against American.
Navy guard Jordan Pennick was ejected less than two minutes into the Patriot League title game after appearing to punch American forward Greg Jones below the belt. The incident led to a flagrant 2 foul on Pennick, who left the court amid booing from American fans.
The incident occurred just as Navy was inbounding the basketball after American took a 5-0 lead early in the first half. While running down the court, Pennick threw an underhanded fist towards Jones’ groin.
An official immediately stopped the game to review the play. Coming into the game, Pennick was a sophomore and Navy’s second-leading scorer, averaging 11 points per game. The Midshipmen, seeded fifth, were aiming for their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998 and relied on significant contributions from Pennick leading up to the match.
