Paris Saint-Germain triumphed with a 2-1 victory over RC Lens, extending their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table. Despite the highly anticipated debut of Georgian midfielder Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who was signed from Napoli, it was fellow Frenchman Bradley Barcola who stepped up, providing an assist and scoring the winning goal.
Barcola, who is facing competition from Kvaratskhelia for a starting spot, shined brightly in the match after Lens took an early lead through M’Bala Nzola. Current PSG players rallied, with Barcola providing the equalizer before netting the winner late in the game.
“We are happy,” said Barcola after the game. “We started well but were a bit down after conceding. We lost motivation around the break but are pleased with the outcome. It’s been a while since I felt this good on the field. I’m ready to keep pushing for a starting role as we approach tough games ahead.”
Kvaratskhelia’s presence is expected to boost the team, even if he won’t play in the upcoming match against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.
