San Antonio Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox will miss the remainder of the season due to a finger injury. The Spurs have announced that Fox is set to undergo surgery to correct a tendon issue in his left hand.
Fox suffered the injury during training camp in October while he was still with the Sacramento Kings. Despite this setback, he put up impressive stats this season, averaging 23.5 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds over 62 games. Since being acquired by the Spurs on February 3, he averaged 19.7 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.3 rebounds in 17 games.
His best performance with the Spurs came last Wednesday, where he scored 32 points, contributed 11 assists, and grabbed nine rebounds in a 126-116 victory against Dallas.
The Spurs are optimistic about Fox’s recovery, expecting him to be ready for the beginning of the next season.
Fox was recognized as an All-Star and was named to the All-NBA third team during the 2022-23 season with the Kings, and in the following season, he led the league in steals while averaging a career-high of 26.6 points.
