Auburn Secures Top Seed with SEC Tournament Victory Over Ole Miss
The Tigers solidified their position as the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament by defeating Ole Miss in the SEC Tournament semifinals.
If it wasn’t secured before the SEC Tournament, it definitely is now. With a 62-57 victory against Ole Miss in Friday’s quarterfinals in Nashville, the Tigers improved to 28-4 overall and 16-4 in Quadrant 1. This win virtually guarantees that Auburn will be revealed as the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, which will be announced shortly after the Selection Show on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET on CBS.
Auburn now has a remarkable 16-4 record in Quadrant 1 games, making them the only team in college basketball with more than 12 Quad 1 wins and four-or-fewer losses. They are ranked first in strength of record (SOR), Wins Above Bubble (WAB), and are in the top spot of CBS Sports’ daily college basketball Top 25 for the 66th consecutive day.
Upcoming Games: In Saturday’s SEC semifinals, Auburn will face Tennessee. The second semifinal pits Florida against Alabama. These four teams currently rank as the first (Auburn), fourth (Florida), sixth (Tennessee), and seventh (Alabama) in the Top 25.
