A tribute to the late sportscaster and his significant impact on NCAA Tournament coverage.

In memory of his extensive career as a sportscaster and his contributions to the NCAA Tournament, CBS Sports paid homage to Greg Gumbel during their Selection Sunday program. Gumbel was a key figure on the show, having led CBS’s coverage of March Madness for 25 years before passing away from cancer in December at age 78.

The show opened with a dedication to Gumbel, highlighting how his presence and voice became integral to fans’ memories of the NCAA Tournament. Beyond March Madness, he was involved in many notable events including the Super Bowl and Winter Olympics.
