Kevin Durant Celebrates Commanders' Victory: A Local Fan's Joy

Kevin Durant, a devoted Washington Commanders fan, shares his excitement after their playoff win over the Detroit Lions.

Fans flooded into the Washington Commanders locker room after their playoff victory over the Detroit Lions on Saturday, including star player Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns.

Durant hails from Washington D.C. and grew up in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, just a short drive from the Commanders’ home stadium. During a post-game interview, he expressed that this win was the team’s biggest achievement since he became a supporter.

In his lifetime since 1988, the Commanders have seen victories such as Super Bowl XXVI and a 9-8 postseason record. Their recent playoff win broke a 19-year drought, ending with a game against Tampa Bay.

Fans of the Washington Wizards have long dreamed of seeing Durant return to the city, particularly with his upcoming free agency after the 2025-26 season.

Meanwhile, on the NBA front, Josh Harris serves as majority owner of both the Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers, while Basketball Hall of Famer Magic Johnson also belongs to the ownership group of the Wizards.

Durant is currently averaging 27.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season for the Suns, who are positioned at the 10th seed in the Western Conference with a record of 21-20.

Next up, the Commanders face a challenging road game against their rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game, slated for 3 p.m. ET on FOX.
