Andres Cantor Makes History with Father-Son Broadcast in Soccer

Andres Cantor and his son Nico will be the first father-son duo to broadcast a soccer game together in major U.S. sports history during the Concacaf Nations League semifinal.

After almost 40 years in the American soccer broadcasting scene, Andres Cantor is about to check off a significant milestone from his bucket list: calling a match alongside his son, Nico Cantor. The father-son duo is set to commentate on the Concacaf Nations League semifinal between Canada and Mexico, marking a historic occasion as the first father-son broadcasting team in major U.S. sports.

It will take place on Thursday at 10:30 p.m. ET on Paramount+.

Andres, known for his iconic goal call, reflects on the history and excitement of soccer in the U.S., which he first called in 1987. He anticipates this event as a memorable one that merges his legacy with his son’s career, hoping it won’t be the last time they work together in the booth. Both Cantors share a unique bond, both personal and professional, making this broadcast an especially joyful endeavor.
