Chris Godwin has re-signed with the only team he has played for, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on a three-year contract worth $66 million. Despite offers from other teams, Buccaneers’ general manager Jason Licht highlighted a team that relentlessly pursued Godwin, even expressing that they kept “writing blank checks.” Licht also refrained from disclosing the name of the team but indicated their genuine interest in securing Godwin’s services, emphasizing the importance of player loyalty and his commitment to the Buccaneers amid competitive offers.
Godwin expressed gratitude for the team’s support during his recovery from significant injuries, stating:
“I trust my gut and I stay true to who I am… I recognize that… and I’m fortunate in that way.”
