One week after making headlines by adding undisputed junior lightweight champion Alycia Baumgardner to its roster, Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions has only continued its commitment to elevating women’s boxing by signing four more female fighters on Wednesday.
MVP, which extended seven-division champion Amanda Serrano’s contract into a lifetime deal earlier this month, was launched in 2021 and has already built a respected roster of women boxers, including WBO super middleweight titleholder Shadasia Green. The promotion was also responsible for making Serrano’s big-money rematch with Katie Taylor last November the most-watched women’s sporting event in American history.
The newest signings for MVP are:
- Dina Thorslund (23-0, 9 KOs): The 31-year-old unified bantamweight champion and two-division titleholder from Denmark, currently ranked as the No. 1 pound-for-pound women’s fighter by BoxRec.com.
- Ramla Ali (9-2, 2 KOs): A Somali-British fighter and activist, who became the first female boxer to represent Somalia at the Olympics in 2020 and was recognized by TIME as one of the 2023 women of the year for her efforts towards women’s equality.
- Naomy Valle (14-0, 9 KOs): The 20-year-old from Costa Rica, a promising junior flyweight who is also an aspiring pilot and a recent winner of a popular dance competition in her country, donating the prize to the National Children’s Hospital.
- Nat “No Love” Dove (4-0, 0 KOs): A 15-time U.S. national amateur champion from Philadelphia and a top prospect in junior bantamweight, training with actor and boxer Javon “Wanna” Walton.
Nakisa Bidarian, who co-founded MVP with Paul nearly four years ago, stated that the promotion’s focus on women’s boxing has always been intentional and strategically planned, aiming to create an environment that fosters equality and recognition in the sport.
MVP’s strategic milestones include the significant Taylor-Serrano rematch, which not only became a record-breaking event but also highlighted the organization’s dedication to championing female athletes in boxing.
